  1. Creating QSL Cards from the data obtained from the KB0ZPLOG is one of the most
  2. exciting aspects of these programs. I know people usually don't QSL from 
  3. contest contacts, but why not? I think it is fun, and it's a great way to get
  4. the QSLs needed for awards.

  6. But, it is a little complicated to produce these. Not too complicated, maybe
  7. involved is a better word. Follow me on these steps, and everything should do
  8. OK.

  10. First of all, these QSL cards are designed to be printed on 6X4 inch "computer
  11. post cards". One up with removable tractor strips on the sides. They may be
  12. purchased at most good office supply houses. But, to test the operation of the
  13. program, use plain white bond. It's cheaper.

  15. Since I don't know what kind of a printer you are using, I will have to do a 
  16. lot of guessing. Most of what follows is from comments received from users like
  17. you. If these proceedures work, tell others, if not, tell me.

  19. Get out your printer instruction book and make sure that those little buttons
  20. and DIP switches are set to print the IBM CHARACTER SET. That is the set of 
  21. characters which will allow the printer to print the lines and boxes correctly.
  22. The STANDARD CHARACTER SET doesn't have that capability.

  24. If you think that your printer is already set up with the IBM SET or you have
  25. just reset it, then print this text file. Since you are reading it on the 
  26. screen, I am assuming that you know how to print it. If not, find some help.

  28. The following should be a double lined box around a single line box with
  29. horizontal and vertical lines through the middle.

  39. If any letters or strange characters show up, something is wrong. Try to fix it
  40. and write me if you can't. I don't know what I can do, but maybe I can help
  41. with the comments I get from others.

  43. Now that you have gotten that to work, the next thing to do is to run the set
  44. up program for your printer. Actually, you will have to do this part to make 
  45. the reports from the KB0ZPRPT program work out OK too. Select option A in the
  46. KB0ZPUTL program. Here again, you will need your printer book. Turn to the 
  47. chapter on "Printer Control Commands". For each item on the two screens shown,
  48. you will have to check the control command against the command I have chosen.
  49. I have a very cheap and common printer, so I used the commands common to my 
  50. printer. If the command I have chosen is the same as yours, just press enter 
  51. and move to the next command. If it is different, just type it in and continue
  52. on. You may have to do this a few times to get everything working right, but it
  53. will be worth it. And, you will never have to do it again.

  55. When you think you have everything done right, choose option K from the KB0ZPUTL
  56. menu. This will print out a "Printer Test Page" just to make sure everything is
  57. OK. If not, go back and try again. It may take a few tries.

  59. Now, you are ready to print the QSLs.

  61. Print them on plain white bond first to make sure you understand the program.
